STUDENTS' MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT
Background
A University was concerned about their student’s mental health. A survey was carried out using google forms to examine the mental health of the student and see how the ailments has affected their academic performances. The three ailments are Schizophrenia, psychosis and Insomnia.

Tasks
- Determine how many students has each ailment and those that are healthy.
- Check the number that has gone to sought specialist treatment.
- Analyze the effect of the ailment on their CGPA.
- Check the marital status and the ages of the student with the ailments.
- Check the courses and level of the students with the ailments.
STEPS TAKEN

Key Findings
- A large number of students with the ailments have not sought specialist treatment.
- The ailments are common among the female, although we have 50% of the total female students over the male.
- All the married students has Psychosis while the large number of students with schizophrenia and insomnia are singles.
- Students in the age group 18 are more affected with the three ailments.
- The highest number of people with the ailments are in the Banking Studies department while we have no students in Biomedical Science department who has any of the ailment.
- The highest percentage of students with the ailments are in Year 1.
- The CGPA of the students with the ailments are not affected, fortunately most of them have a good CGPA, above 3:00.
- It’s discovered that we have some people with the 2 or more ailments.

CONCLUSIONS
NUMBER OF STUDENTS WITH AILMENT
There are 33 students suffering from Schizophrenia, 34 students has psychosis and 35 has Insomnia. It discovered that some students has more than one ailment and some have all the three ailment, in total we have 64 unhealthy student.
NUMBER OF MALE AND FEMALE WITH THE AILMENT
We have 48 female students with the ailments and 16 male students with ailments.
SOUGHT SPECIALIST
Very few number of the students sought specialist treatment, 4 students out of 33 students with Schizophrenia, 3 students out of 34 student with insomnia, 6 students out of 35 student with Psychosis.
STUDENTS’ CGPA
Most of the students with the ailments has a CGPA of 3:00 and greater than 3:00, which implies the ailment has not affected them or they could have done more excellently if they had no ailment.
NUMBER OF STUDENTS WITH AILMENT IN EACH LEVEL AND COURSES
The highest number of students with the ailments is in Year 1 with 42 students, Year 2 has 26 students with the ailment, Year 3 has 24 students with the ailment and the least students with ailment are in Year 4 with 8 students.
AGE BRACKET OF STUDENTS WITH AILMENT
32% of the students with the conditions fall within age 18 which is the highest number and the least is 2% of students in age 22.
RECOMMENDATION
The University should ensure that the students who have not sought medical attention do so and the students in Year 1 needs to be checked before admitted into school to ensure they are fit. Though, their CGPA are not really bad, but it’s possible they would do better if they had no medical condition. The Course, Banking Studies may need to be evaluated to see if the curriculum is tedious and may need to be work on.
